This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how the Sri Lankan International School Riyadh ("SLISR", "the School", "we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the SLISR Education mobile application (the "App") available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. This Policy is written to be clear about exactly what does and does not happen to your information, in plain language, without vague or boilerplate claims.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you are a parent or guardian of a student using the App, this Policy applies to your child's use of the App as well.
The App does not use advertising, does not use third-party analytics or tracking software development kits (SDKs), does not sell or rent any information to anyone, and does not share information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. The App does not track you across other apps or websites owned by other companies. There are no ad networks, no ad identifiers, and no cross-app tracking of any kind integrated into the App.
The only information the App handles is the information strictly necessary for it to function as a school portal: identifying you as a specific enrolled student and showing you your own timetable, subjects, lesson progress, and feedback tools. Nothing beyond that is collected.
To operate, the App stores and processes the following on SLISR's own servers:

We do not use this information to build an advertising profile of you, to market third-party products or services to you, or for any purpose unrelated to running the School's academic portal.
Your account and academic information is visible only to: you (the student it belongs to), your assigned teachers for the relevant subject, and authorized School administration staff who need it to run the academic program. It is never made public, never sold, and never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.
We use standard third-party infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting and push notification delivery services operated by Apple and Google) purely to run the App's backend and deliver notifications. These providers process data only on our instructions, as part of operating the App's technical infrastructure — they do not independently use your information for their own purposes.
Your information is stored on servers operated by or on behalf of SLISR. All data sent between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are never stored or transmitted in plain, readable form.
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures — including access controls restricting who at the School can view student data, and secure server configurations — to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not treat this obligation lightly.
We retain your account and academic information for as long as you remain an enrolled student at SLISR, and for a limited period afterward as required for the School's academic record-keeping obligations. After that period, your account information is deleted or anonymized, except where retention is required by applicable law or educational regulation.
To state this as plainly as possible: the App contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics SDKs, no data brokers, and no mechanism to track your activity across other companies' apps or websites. Nothing you do in the App is sold, rented, or disclosed to any third party for marketing, profiling, or advertising purposes, under any circumstance.
The App is built specifically for use by enrolled students of SLISR, including students under the age of 13. Student accounts are created and issued directly by the School, not through open public sign-up, meaning a child cannot create an account on their own without the School's involvement. We collect only the minimum information described in this Policy, needed for the School to deliver its academic program, and we do not use any child's information for advertising or marketing of any kind.
Parents and guardians who have questions about their child's information, or who wish to review, correct, or request deletion of it, may contact us using the details below or contact the School directly.

Where our hosting or notification-delivery infrastructure providers process data outside of the country in which you reside, we take steps to ensure that data continues to be protected consistently with this Policy, regardless of where it is processed.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App's functionality or applicable law. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the App after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
